Blau Blau its Crap

Spent all that time last night painting what I though was a pretty good magic captain but woke up to work on it this morning and I all I could see was Sherlock Homes and the nasty paint job that I had done. Back to the drawing board well first stop was the net to find some inspiration and general time wasting but it was worth this time think I have nailed the look I’m after for my salty, hipster, magic captain illustration.

 

Having done the horrid paint job from last night made me have to rethink thing I usually never bother with like light and shadows (such a lazy wanna be artist ) so made sure to add some extra line to get an idea of dark and light areas.  Not all I have to do is translate that into something super pro.

Reference picture's for my new Illustration. The important thing I was looking for was top hat and old school smoking pipes cause nothing says I look more cool then a top hat and a pipe.


These are what I have come up with so far I'm digging the high collar jacket just without the hand holding the pipe it looks some what dull.

Kill the Director, Illustration Idea

I have had this idea to do illustration to songs that have I either just like the beat or have shaped me in someway. I actually got the idea while listen to this exact song and that why its going to be the first one I do.

 Idea for this illustration is that a director has to oversee so many aspect of whatever they are creating that why I have drawn heap of arm and head like some kind of medusa creature. 

Lazy Sunday

Been rather frustrated with myself of late. Because every time I try to start something new I don’t like something about and give up on it and spend the rest of my time surfing the new looking at other people work that better then my own. On Sunday I just did something for the hell of it and the result were ok if I play around with the illustration some more I might be able to make something of it.
