Twinkling Star Deathbringer

This illustration is for a friend well its was for their birthday but I was kind of distracted by other things. All started with a random conversation about if you had a moon pony what would you name it ? My name was so lame that when my friend told me their's I was it total aura of the name they came up with. Soon us their birthday wasn't far of I decided to create something to do with it.

My first few attempts where kind of lame and was having a lot of trouble getting something that looked cool. I've been very uncreative for awhile and nothing seems to be working for me creatively so I decide to use Tomer Hanuka  image us a reference for mine. I like Tomer pose a lot. I  like how it's nice and fluid yet has a feel of power to it took me a couple of attempts to get a similar look.

I do feel bad that I ripped of this work but I wanted to get a understanding for myself about how to drawing it and the balance of the pieces. One of the best way I hope to get over a creative slump is to copy and remix other artist that you admire.

If you do like Tomer Hanuka work I suggest checking out this website or even purchase this new book like I have.

trying a different technique

Really want to try something different rather then my usually throw watercolors down over the drawing. Blood hard trying to get that more professional arty look to my work, this was the best of the efforts that took a whole day to do.

Their some promise to it just have to keep working away at it.

And now for something completely different

I've been struggling to get any kind of  illustration work done and it's been an absolute pain. Well sometimes you need to be put outside your comfort zone to get a new perspective. For me that was participating in National Youth Week by creating and art installation.

My idea was simple gather a bunch of toy and put them to war and have people donate some to the cause. But to make it more interactive I was hoping to get people to use twitter, were they would pretend to be their toy and describe what they were doing in the war.

Well it didn't quite go according to plan only had one friend donate toys and I spent the day twitter to myself an imaginary war. That's all right at the end of the night when I had to pack it up saw people playing with the toys and acting like giant kids again so that made it all worth while.

Get out of my face can't you see I'm relaxing

Sat down to get some more work done on my drunk superhero. But I wasn't loving the pose anymore just felt flat and boring need to be more like someone taking a photo of a wasted up athlete. Think this came from watching both season 1 and 2 of east down and bound even used  a little on Danny McBride us reference of my superhero new look.
